Park Place are pleased to have advised Wincanton plc on the sale of its container logistics business and its subsidiary Wincanton Pullman Fleet Services Limited.
Wincanton is the UK’s largest third-party logistics (3PL) company and provides supply chain consultancy and solutions to some of the world’s most admired brands. It employs approximately 19,100 people across more than 200 sites with a 3,500-strong fleet of vehicles.
Wincanton’s container logistics business is one of the UK’s largest providers of ports to distribution centre logistics services with annual revenues of c.£60 million. It works with shipping lines, freight forwarders, retailers and manufacturers operating a fleet of c. 250 tractor units and over 500 trailers. PPCF acted as lead advisor on the sale of the business to Maritime Transport. Felixstowe-based Maritime, owned by entrepreneur John Williams, was identified as a highly strategic buyer for the business having previously acquired DHL’s container business and Roadways.
PPCF also acted as lead adviser on the sale of Wincanton’s subsidiary Wincanton Pullman Fleet Services Limited (“Pullman”) to Aurelius Investments. Headquartered in Doncaster, Pullman is the UK’s largest independent provider of commercial fleet management and maintenance, with a focus on heavy goods vehicles. Pullman serves a blue chip customer base with 27 service centres, over 70 mobile service vehicles, and has more than 430 employees. For Aurelius the Pullman acquisition will complement its existing portfolio company, light vehicle fleet management business, Rivus Fleet Solutions.
Both of these disposals assist Wincanton to deliver on its strategy of focusing on growth opportunities in its core markets.
